There is a large array of adventure activities to take part in around the Christchurch and Canterbury region. Here are just a few of the options you can try out.
BUNGY JUMPING
Stop at the historic Waiau Bridge at Hanmer Springs and plummet into the beautiful Waiau Gorge on an unforgettable bungy jump. Combine with a jetboat ride along the meandering channels and through the rugged cliffs of the Waiau River.
GLACIER LANDING FLIGHTS
Specialised high wing ski-equipped aircraft give passengers uninterrupted views of the Southern Alps and Aoraki Mount Cook, the high snow fields and glaciers. After landing on the pristine glacial snows, aircraft engines are shut down so that passengers can enjoy the awesome quietness of the massive mountains.

The jetboat was pioneered on the braided rivers of New Zealand’s high country and you can experience spectacular scenery and the thrill of a wild ride along the spectacular Waimakariri or Rakaia Rivers. Surge through braided channels sometimes in just inches of water, experience heart-stopping 360º spins with the magnificent Southern Alps as your backdrop.
SKYDIVING
For those with a passion for adventure, the Christchurch Parachute School can give you the ultimate thrill on a tandem skydive over the city. Christchurch is renowned for its huge geographical variation within close proximity to the city and you can see it all as you float gently back to earth.
WHITE-WATER RAFTING
Rangitata Rafts offers guided white-water rafting of varying levels, from Mt Peel Station in the heart of the Southern Alps, 160 km south west of Christchurch. A full day experience includes optional return transport from Christchurch, lunch, the latest rafting equipment, three hours rafting, hot showers and traditional kiwi BBQ.
